The Atheist

Written by Ronan Noone
Directed by Justin Waldeman

Synopsis: In The Atheist, Campbell Scott plays 'Augustine Early,' a crooked reporter who will do anything to get his next front-page story. When Augustine turns a prominent local politician's tawdry predilections into front page news, the scandal threatens to undo the one person Augustine thought was immune - himself. The Atheist is a searing and hilarious play about catching the perfect front-page headline, whatever the cost.

NEW YORK TIMES:
"“The Atheist” has all the sting of a 10-year-old tabloid headline. Were it not for the energizing contrast between Mr. Scott’s altar-boyish good looks and the corroded soul of the character he portrays, the play would probably be D.O.A. "

THEATERMANIA:
"But ultimately, The Athiest proves to be the perfect match of magnificent actor and gripping play. Don't miss it! "

VARIETY:
"Scott has enough hypnotic charisma for about five actors, keeping the aud enthralled by Early's smooth-voiced, friendly facade and occasionally letting his barely controlled rage smash it to bits."

BACKSTAGE:
"But all of Scott's talent can't disguise the flaws in Noone's text. "
