Written by Brooke Berman
Directed by Leigh Silverman
Synopsis: The drama focuses on four interconnected New Yorkers, absorbed by the universe of Craig's List, laptops, and Scandinavian furniture, who seek a home in a world of temporary sublets, couch-surfing and unstable love.

NEW YORK TIMES:
"Ms. Berman, 38, a writer of light-handed charm and sitcom rhythms, has created a portrait for the Craigslist generation of domicile-shifting people for whom a home is something you dream about but never actually possess. I’ve no doubt that “Hunting and Gathering” ... speaks to many young(ish), apartment-seeking New Yorkers who don’t have trust funds or jobs on Wall Street."

NY1:
"If "Hunting and Gathering" were an apartment, it would be sparsely furnished on the first floor of a fairly-modern building with the basic amenities but little architectural charm. In other words, it's not bad, but you've certainly seen better. "

THEATERMANIA:
"...delightful new play...wittily explores urban rootlessness and the search for connections, no matter how precarious."

NEW YORK POST:
" Depicting the fractured, interconnected love lives of a quartet of young New Yorkers, it's a fast and funny work featuring terrific performances from its talented ensemble."

NEW YORK SUN:
"But if the premise sounds small, it's not. Ruth's real estate conundrum reflects a far deeper ambivalence. Like many members of their generation, Ruth and Astor refuse to be fitted into neat slots in corporate America."

VARIETY:
"Plot-wise, the play raises essentially the same concerns as any romantic comedy -- who will end up with whom and why should we care? But in re-casting the old relationship questions as real-estate issues -- who will move in with whom and what will be the price of this commitment? -- Berman finds a fresh and funny way of looking at the mortal terrors of being young and on your own in a bewildering existential landscape."

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS:
"An appealing cast can't conceal the fact that no one point is developed fully enough to be satisfying. In the end, "Hunting and Gathering" is an okay play to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there."
