Music & Lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, Book by Catherine Johnson
Directed by Phyllida Lloyd
Choreographed by Anthony Van Laast

Synopsis Inspired by the songs of ABBA. This original musical is a story of a mother and daughter set on the eve of the daughter's wedding.

NEW YORK TIMES: "''Mamma, Mia!,'' which opened (and continues to run) in London more than two years ago, is bland, hokey, corny, stilted, self-conscious and -- let's not mince words -- square. But in the hands of the director Phyllida Lloyd and her remarkably consistent crew and performers, these traits are turned into virtues, creating what is surely the canniest exercise in klutziness to hit Broadway. NEW YORK MAGAZINE: "The Italian exclamation "Mamma mia!" usually expresses a not entirely pleasurable surprise or a not wholly unenjoyable shock. Emotionally rather than literally, it translates as "Holy cow!" Which is pretty much my reaction to the musical Mamma Mia! I would not discourage anyone interested from attending Mamma Mia!. But I wouldn't encourage the doubtful, either." Read the whole review HERE.
